Welcome to RPoL!
There's lots of different games already in progress here, and we're always looking for new ones, too.
Great places to start looking are:
Wanted - GMs. This is the place for players to advertise to find a GM to run a game they want to play.
Wanted - Players. The converse of the above, this is for GMs to advertise for players for a game they are already running.
Game Proposals, Input, and Advice. This is for GMs to propose new game concepts to gauge interest, or to ask for input/advice from others concerning a concept they are thinking about using.
All three of these have Notices at the top which spell out the specific rules to be followed there. Don't worry: they're concise, clear, and sensible.
Another great place to hang out and just get to know folks is
Community Chat.
There are games on RPoL that require you to have Adult or Mature access privileges before you can see any content in them.

Lastly, if you ever decide to run a game, the toolkit here for GMs of play-by-post (PBP) games is second to none. More about running games is in the Help System, too.
