Hello there!

Hello to you all!
Recently (in the last six months) I have developed an interest in board games. I already forced my friends in playing with me with some games, like Dungeon Saga, but I don't think they would fully appreciate a full rpg. And more, I should do the GM, with non prior experience or knowledge and I'm afraid of it.
I thought about joining some group, but I really don't have the time between college and work - I hope to graduate for the end of the year.
So, I came across this site and I found it wonderful!
I'm really hyped to join a game, and hopefully the GM will have some patience with my imperfect english, I'm Italian, and that I'm totally new to these things.
Also, can you introduce me to a good game system to begin or is this request out of topic?
Thank you very much!

Hello there!

Welcome!

A lot of what you would consider a "good game system" is a matter of personal preference and depends on what you want out of a game.  I love the original version of Traveller, but I know folks who don't really like it all that much (and we're still friends!  Go figure...).

For my own part, I like game systems that are consistent and don't require the player to know everything about them in order to play and enjoy.

Did you want more of a fantasy setting, or something modern or even science-fictional?
There are systems that are independent of setting, but many more are specific to a given type or range of settings.  There is a board here called Game Systems you might want to visit for more information.

Being a GM is a lot of work, but can be very satisfying in terms of what you create for your players to enjoy.  The tools available to GMs here on RPoL are very powerful and make it easy to create enjoyable game experiences that are well organized and easy to administer.

There's lots to see and do here, but I'd recommend reading up on the FAQs and especially the policies that govern behavior and the conduct of games here.  You've taken a great first step by posting an intro to Beginners.  Follow through on that and get involved - play and create a game or two of your own.

Hello there!

Hey there ! Welcome aboard. I LOVE Italy, we just came back from Tuscany ! Beautiful ! And the vino ! Wow !

Anyways. We can make a lot of suggestions, but first we need to know what type of game you are interested in ... westerns ? dungeons ? fantasy ? sci-fi ? a jolly good sea romp ? spies ? apocalypse and zombies ? ... it's all here somewhere on this site.

Most GMs are good with newbs and some run games with no rules or systems so they are quite newb friendly, others not so much. So poke around the site a bit, look in the PLAYERS WANTED section and see if any games there appeal to you. If not wait a few days, something new will appear that might be more to your taste. If that doesn't work, post in the GM wanted section, someone might see what you are looking for and invite you to an existing game or they might start a new game.

Best of luck. :)
