If you are sure about it, send your gm a private message with a request to be removed. If after two weeks they still refuse to remove you, ask a Mod for help.

i see, thanks. it's cool, i just thought i had left the game already, after leaving my dear john. i erased the game from my active games, and when i logged back on, it was there again.

Odds are you are not officially removed yet then. Elsewise you would not be getting flagged once you remove it.

they're trying to convince me to stay in the game... i appreciate that, but nothing doing. once disillusioned, it's game over, for me.

It happens. Like I said, if you are still there 2 weeks after the decision is final, ask a mod for help.

It might be One week, I honestly forget right now.

Yeah, there is no way for you to remove yourself from a game.  The GM has control of those options, just as there's no way to add yourself to a game.  However, if the GM refuses to honor your request to be removed within the two-week time frame mentioned, the mods will take care of it.

But the only effective protocol for leaving a game is to PM the game master/game's owner and ask to be removed.  They're supposed to do it on request.  And if you haven't made said request, the mods won't do anything.  So, that's the first step, no matter how it ends up working out.

Most GMs run games not only for their own enjoyment, but for the enjoyment of the players.

If a player is not enjoying the game, a decent GM will naturally wonder why, and will attempt to correct whatever is wrong, making adjustments to their game so that as many players as possible enjoy it.

For this reason, if a player asks, out of the blue, to be removed, the GM may try to engage the player in a conversation to see what is wrong and whether the problem can be solved by a less drastic means than quitting. It's a friendly gesture.

Sometimes the problem can be resolved, sometimes its just a matter of differing perceptions and a bit of discussion can iron things out.

Other times, of course, the matter is beyond resolution.

You are not obliged to enter into a discussion about your reasons for leaving, of course, but the above may well be the angle your GM is coming from. If you are determined to leave, thank your GM for trying to resolve the issue, but say that you would rather not discuss it and you would prefer to leave.

Once your GM is convinced that your mind is made up, s/he will almost certainly let you go - there would be no point in doing anything else.

Other times (as I've done myself recently) GMs say a farewell, and wait for the player to read it before deleting them... ...Then forget that they didn't delete the player. GMs are human too. ;)

Give your GM another nudge before you call the Mods in. :)

what i think the deal is, is as a new comer to an older, established group. my characters are always going to be treated douchey, by this player's charactors, just because they don't like a new vibrant personality in the game. i'm pretty good at reading the writing on the wall. it's only been the one person, and it hasn't my charactors alone, but other new players as well. i think they just don't like new blood, is all.

but that's neither here, nor there. things have simmered down, a bit. i just wanted to know how it works, in the event i get fed up, and want out. i'm involved so far in two different games, and each of the GM's are fantastic, both in diplomacy, and running their games.

That's good news.
I had a similar problem in one of my games, with an original player not liking newcomers. I don't like cliques, in my book a player is a player, provided they're playing properly (you need to be careful how 'vibrant' you are). In this case, eventually it was the original player who chose to leave.
Good luck with your game. :)
