New to D&D and other forms of tabletop RPG/RP

Hey. I'm RedTeamPyro, or Ulysses to others. While i have years of roleplaying experience behind me, i'm still a bit new to the tabletop field. I'm here hoping to find someone running a game, preferably D&D, that is able to take on another player and possibly teach me how to play, and how to work the numbers system. I have played a small bit of D&D beforehand, so i know how the system with what, character creation, the whole DM deal, and all of that works. I mainly struggle with the numbers, though. While the "Wanting Players" forum is there, i'm hesitant to go after anything listed there due to my lack of experience. I don't want to be dead weight, after all.

Thanks

Hi RedTeamPyro,

If you don't want to join the games on offer in Wanted - Players, you can use the Wanted - GMs forum to request a game that suits your needs, including specifying your desire for a "teaching game".  The forum is here: link to another game

As a general rule, if you contact a GM about joining a game and are up-front with them about your experience or lack thereof, they'll let you know if they can/are willing to walk a newbie through the game process.  Several GM's are, actually, quite open to the idea, so you might be pleasantly surprised.
