Complete Newbie Here!

Hello. I was born too late (and in the wrong part of the world, too) to have the chance to enjoy tabletops and similar RPing platforms.
The only roleplaying experience I have is GM-ing for a private RP on Facebook, and some semi-RP-centric games.

I do have what genre(s) and what character(s) I want to play in mind, so I'll get right to it.

I couldn't find the info I'm looking for, so let me ask here - and please state if it is improper to use this forum for these things; in such case next time I'll do my best to use the proper medium.

Okay I'm gonna ask this: If a die roll is not secret, does that mean that the GM can see the result? That'd make sense, so that players wouldn't have the initiative to make many rolls and copy-paste the best result.

But I just wanted to make it sure...

Re: Complete Newbie Here!

The GM can see all rolls - that's sort of the point.

Other players cannot see secret rolls. It's useful for things like "I pick another player's pockets" on one front, and for things like "I need to make 50 rolls to generate my character, no one but me and the GM care about them" on another.

Okay - I'm new to the site, that's why I made many rolls, tried many things, just to see how things work.

But our game hasn't started. So my rolls were independent of any context. Now how can the other players see these rolls? Where are these rolls posted?

Re: Complete Newbie Here!

Dice rolls are shown in the dice roller page (the same place you go to roll them).

If you're the GM, you see all of them (within limits - there is a maximum number of rolls that can be displayed, so old rolls will eventually vanish).

If you're a player, you see the non-secret rolls (and your own secret ones).

*smiles*  With all due respect, my friend, Tabletop roleplaying is still going strong in the present day, even with the popularity of computer and online games. Still, if no one is doing it near you, it's not as helpful, I'll admit.  :)

Just have fun, and don't be embarrassed to ask anything you want to.  And be patient, because there will be many games and not all of them will work perfectly.  But there will always been more.
