Hail to the King baby!  Lol just kidding.

((The following is right from my autobiography thing I created a little bit ago.  Enjoy!))

Good evening and I hope I'm doing this right.  The name's Vergil1989 the Crossover King, (a title I jokingly earned over on Fanfiction.Net lol), but I just go by Vergil more often than not.  Anyway, I'm 26 years old since February, I am trying to publish a book one of these days, and I am physically disabled.  Born with a rare genetic disorder called Muscular Dystrophy, and I'm currently dependent on a ventilator and a tube that goes directly through my neck called a trach that allows me to breathe more or less.  Despite all this, I am very much in control of my faculties, I'm typing this message myself, and I have a pretty good outlook on life despite these hardships I face on a regular basis.

That said, it could be safely argue that I use RP as a means to escape.  I love building worlds, bringing characters to life, you name it, and I hope to find like minded individuals on this site.  I'm a huge fan of Forgotten Realms despite the Spellplague event they threw into the mix that took out several of my favorite characters from the Drizzt Do'Urden series, (DAMN YOU SALVATORE!), lol and if I RP anything here, it'll likely be within the world of Toril, on the continent of Faerun.  As a quick side note, I also RP as women mostly, more of a personal preference, but I can play as guys just as easily.  Anyway, I'll probably update and add more to this over the days to come, but that's the basics for the moment.  See ya folks!

Lol now that that's out of the way, let me finish by saying that I've RPed quite a bit through forums like this, but system gaming is not something I usually go for.  I vastly prefer doing an RP through freeform play, with MAYBE an easy to use system.  Personally though, I will always desire story every time, of being able to develop a character through trial and error, and to watch them grow as the world changes around them, and changes them directly.  So, who wants to play a game with me?

Re: Hail to the King baby!  Lol just kidding.

Welcome to RPOL!  The rules of this forum don't allow anyone to advertise--in any way--specific games, so unless someone sends you rMail about their games, you're still going to be stuck going to look for yourself at what's available.

Lucky for you, freeform games are fairly popular on RPOL, in a wide variety of genres and settings.  And there are a lot of GMs who, while using a rules-system to run their game, do most of the work for the players so you only really need to be familiar with the system during character creation (and for character advancement)...outside of that, the GM either rolls the dice for you or tells you what to roll.

And there are a lot of rules-lite systems out there, as well.  I personally prefer to stick with systems that I know, but occasionally I'll jump into something new (provided the setting sounds intriguing enough to convince me it'll be worth my while to learn a new system...and that's actually happened a few times on here.)

I would suggest visiting the Wanted: Players forum.  GMs posting there are actively seeking new players for their games (which may either be on the brink of starting up, just started, or there are some that have been running for quite some time and are just looking to either expand or replace players that have dropped out).  You can also browse the games from the Main Menu...there are several criteria you can select to narrow the search field.

If you can't find something that sounds appealing, you can also post in the Wanted: GMs forum, making an ad to state what kind of game you'd like to play, in order to see if someone may be interested in running it.

Happy hunting!

Thanks for the warm welcome and the advice Facemaker.  I actually already looked around and put an add thing in the GN wanted area, so I'm two steps ahead of ya lol.  As for advertising, I didn't think I did, but I apologize if it looked that way.  Anyway, I'll be sure to give this place its fair chance.  Wish me luck!

No, you didn't advertise anything.  I mentioned it by way of explanation if nobody jumped up and said, 'Hey, come try MY game!'  *grin*

I think you'll find it a favorable place.  I started...more years ago than I care to admit...when a friend I used to play tabletop with started a Star Wars game on here because he wanted to play and all the people he wanted in the game were scattered all over three states.

The game fizzled out and died after a couple of months (between work and getting engaged, he didn't have much interest in running the game after a while...*laugh*), and I thought about maybe just walking away.  Obviously, I didn't.

I've developed some wonderful friendships on here in the years since.  Looking forward to a few more along the way.

In reply to facemaker329 (msg # 4):

Ah gotcha, I appreciate it then.  :D  As for the possibility of making more friends along the way of RPing in places like this, I've made a few friends myself in the same fashion.  It's fun meeting new people, and I enjoy it personally.  Anyway, again thanks for the warm welcome Facemaker and I hope we get to meet again.  Adios!
