Hey evilz3ro! Welcome to RPoL. I recommend the FAQs. They are concise, well put together, and should explain things nicely. After that, head on over to Players Wanted and find yourself a game. There is also a search function that will let you whittle it down by genre, system, and some other things.

I think you will find that many GMs will be happy to help you with more specific things like mechanics once you are situated in a game. Don't be afraid to ask for help. Happy Gaming!
