I've had a look around and even requested something I quite like the look of, but I'm still somewhat lost.

I don't want to be a nuisance to anyone but I would really appreciate some help and a strong shove soft nudge in the right direction.

If it helps, I like fantasy things and I'm alright at writing comedy.. despite my nervous form at the minute. I like Japanese-y anime-esque style things, but in general love a lot of things as long as it's done well and is fun.

The first thing to do is check out the FAQs in the tab at the top right of the page. They will answer a lot of questions about the site, how it works and what the rules are.

Then, check out the Players Wanted forum. That is essentially a list of games that are recruiting. Click on one you like and send a RTJ (Request To Join) to the GM (Game Master).

If you see nothing you like (new games are listed every day), then visit the GMs Wanted forum and make a specific request for something. You might find a GM who is willing to run a game for you.

If you have more questions, ask here and we'll see what we can do. The more specific your question, the easier it will be to give you a useful answer.

Icosahedron's advice is probably not as helpful as you were hoping...but we aren't allowed to point you in the direction of specific games on this forum.  Due to past abuses by certain users, there are only specific forums in which games can be directly advertised (including even mentioning them by name).  So, the best we can manage is to point you in the right direction to look for games.

In addition to the Wanted: Players forum, you can also Browse Games from the Main Menu.  This allows you to search for games using a variety of filters, including whether the game is flagged as accepting new players, by the title of the game, the genre, etc...  The risk with that is, you sometimes stumble across games that sound like exactly what you're looking for...but they aren't accepting new players because the GM forgot to turn off the flag...or the GM hasn't been around for a while to update the game or add new players.  A lot of people have had great success locating games this way, which is why I mention it...but my personal preference is to keep an eye on the W:P forum, because you KNOW the games there are actively seeking new players.
