Re: Hey I'm New
Recommendations? Well, it depends largely on whether you want to go to the time and effort of learning a specific gaming system or you just want to get to the gaming part of it. Freeform games have very minimal rules, if any, and are generally akin to a collaborative storytelling project, where everyone deals with their own character.
If you want something a little more structured, it becomes a lot trickier to give a recommendation, because there are dozens of different rules systems for fantasy games (and probably hundreds, if you throw it open to all genres...) There are versions of D&D whose rules can be found online for free, several others with rules either posted online or with pdf versions available for free downloads.
If you're looking for recommendations for specific individual games...we can't help you here. It's against the forum rules to advertise (including even mentioning by name) specific games. What I CAN recommend is to keep an eye on the Wanted: Players forum--games which are actively seeking new players post ads there. You can read through and see if something piques your interest, then check out the game in more detail and see if it's actually something you're interested in joining. If you look and don't see anything appealing, keep checking back...there's very active turnover in the games that are listing on the first couple of pages, it's rare that anyone needs to watch for more than a few days before they find at least a game or two that appeals to them.
