If you're looking for a game, go ahead and check out the Players Wanted forum.  It's got all the game that are currently "hiring".    You can click on any of them and then click on 'request to join' to send a message to the game master.

We've got all kinds of game systems here, from popular to obscure, and also many freeform games, which I think you'll like, of all kinds.

you can even put your own ad up on "GMs Wanted" to ask for someone to start a specific kind of game.

Well to get started you need to join a game, which either means searching one on WAnted-Players, or asking for a specific type of game on Wanted-GMs. A great guide is the FAQs up in the top right.
