Gm-less and 'Post initiative'

I've heard of 'solo' games here, but I was wondering if anyone had tried a Gm-less game. Something along the line of 'The Collaborative Gamer' system. I imagine it could work by having one player roll-up and describe an area, then the next player to post either has to either find a way for his character to get through, or describe how he can help someone else succeed. Once a player beats the obstacle, he gets to roll-up and describe the following area, and so on.

I think it could make for a interesting combat system too. The first to post once combat is joined gets to act first. Once he's done, he describes and makes the rolls for one of the monster's attacks, but doesn't pick a target. Instead, the next player to post has to deal with the attack, before getting their own turn.

Of course, it means someone who post more often then the others will get more action and more chances to describe what's happening, so there should be a limit. Something like having to wait for one or two other player to post before you can post again, depending on group size. And obviously, there's the limit that each time you post, you character gets attacked during combat. That's a reason to think twice about how often you reply.

What do you think? Has something like that been tried before? Did it work, or could it work?

Gm-less and 'Post initiative'

I think it could work if there were few players and they were "On the Same Page" with what they wanted from the game.

Mythic works as does a few other games designed for Solo play.

My concern would be the

quote:
The first to post once combat is joined gets to act first
.

There are a lot of people who play in different time zones as well as different times they can post.  It could favor certain players all the time versus others getting a chance to play first.

That would be a problem in a normal game, where the GM's post marks the start of a fight. In a GM-less game, there's little chance that the combat will always start at the same time.
