I've been checking out a couple 2d20 quickstarts (Conan, Mutant Chronicles, Infinity), and I find the system interesting, but I have the impression something's off, mostly with the fact that action dice give "void" results half of the time.
Also, I really like the Heat/Doom points mechanic, but it also looks like it can easily unbalance the game both sides.
Does anyone have experience with the system, and is willing to share his thoughts about it?

Thank you!

I hope the system is good, because I'm planning on buying the Conan RPG as soon as it comes out!

Please... tell me it isn't broken or anything...

The new Star Trek Adventures game looks really great as well. I have the PDF, but have yet to play it yet. I'm planning on running the game IRL for my group in the coming months and I believe it has great potential as a system. I especially like the concept of Momentum/Threat...:-)

I have played a couple of Conan, Mutant Chronicle and Star Trek games as GM.
It works.
Depending on the game, characters roll target on their main skills are between 10 and 13. With doom and momentum spending, you easily have three dices to throw. The chances to get at least a success is not that bad.

Doom is quite balanced : the GM has clear guideline to put up with the players antics. The main draw back is when you have one player that often uses doom and the other are more shy and began to tell him to stop because "that's trouble coming, stop !"

Well, I like it. My wife find the "success" system a bit confuse, specially for damages and had a mixed relationship with doom... until she decided to embrass it, then she used doom every other roll.

In reply to Varsovian (msg # 6):

I see they're suggesting more settings will come out for their system, so I'm quite curious.

I love Conan as well, but both Mutant Chronicles and Infinity look really interesting, so I'm profoundly undecided...
The Wilderness of Mirrors take in Infinity is really inspiring, though.

So, Conan is now available in print! Now I really can throw money at Modiphius!

I ordered both Conan and Star Trek Adventures. I admit I'm not too fond of the Mutant Chronicles universe. As for Infinity, I have yet to check the RPG. But I know this setting from the miniature game and it *is* interesting!

Mutant chronicles is great but being the first use of the 2D20 it has some rules that weren't as clear as later iterations of the system and the mechanics in the Star Trek rules are fantastic

My copies of Conan: AIAUO and Star Trek Adventures arrived today! :)

Just thumbed through Conan. It looks... awesome. An interesting note: in the most typical version of character creation, you cannot create a sorcerer PC... which is *exactly* how I would handle things, were I to create my own system. It's said from the outset that magic users are rare special cases, not typical PC.

That's certainly keeping in spirit with the setting!

They sure look like they're getting the hang of things. I'm positively interested now it trying one out.

Well, they certainly seem intent on making a game close to the source material. The recurring themes in the GMing section seem to be "How would Howard approach this?" and "What would Conan do?"...

"What would Conan do?" sounds like good life advice.

Anyway, I'll be checking the Wanted forums to see if a Conan game pops up, then.

I admit the system itself makes me itch to try it out in a cyberpunk game.
