RIP Tom Petty
Sad news about an American icon.  I've been listening to him since the 80s and just saw him in concert a few weeks ago.  He seemed so energetic and exuberant.  He was a consummate professional, and was so generous with the crowd.

Yup, just barely.  Folks make mistakes like prematurely releasing news items of this type from time to time.  It happens.

Re: RIP Tom Petty
He has been declared brain dead, from my understanding, regardless of whether there is biological activity.  The machines have been turned off.  He is gone to us.  I have been listening to Tom Petty radio on Sirius XM all afternoon.

In reply to Heath (msg # 4):

I feel ya, man.  WBYU has been running his tunes all day today since this news broke.  I play bass, and learned a lot of Tom Petty's tunes over the years for various bands I was with.

Thoroughly bummed -- loved his music!

I guess it's one of those things
You can never explain
Like when an angel cries
Like runaway trains
Like one of those times
That's never the same
Like when something dies
Like runaway trains
