I think they both could have claimed to have lived a full life. I'm more sad when it's someone who seemed to have so much still to do.

Re: gone too soon

Exactly, willvr - I'm of an age where I know of Zsa Zsa, though I know almost nothing about her acting career and life.  Even so, I know more about her than any of the Kardashians.

F'rinstance, unless you were watching TV Sci-fi in the years 1978-1981, the name Gareth Thomas probably won't mean much to you (see spoiler text below if you're curious) ... but he was another sad casualty of 2016.  :<

Gareth Thomas played Roj Blake in BBC's Blake's 7

Re: gone too soon

Gareth Thomas is a good example - I'd doubt even the majority of Americans watching sci-fi in that period have heard of him.

What it takes is a dedicated -British- sci-fi fan. I'm too young to have seen him the first time; but as a lover of British sci-fi; and with the amount of cross-pollination in writing talent from Doctor Who to Blakes' Seven, I've heard of him. Didn't realise he'd died this year though.

Re: gone too soon

That sci-fi series (along with Star Wars) coloured my whole interpretation of Traveller, a game which, in turn, has been a major influence on my hobby. But I didn't hear Gareth had died, until now. Perhaps his fifteen minutes of fame was too long ago.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Rick Parfitt, though. RIP, Rick.

Re: gone too soon

Two more gone this year:

Carrie Fisher

Richard Adams (author of Watership Down).

As we get older, all the people we 'know' start dying off... until it's your turn.

RIP everyone.

Re: gone too soon

I'm constantly reminded of the quote from the fourth Indiana Jones movie, where Indy is speaking to his old friend at the college.

"We're reaching that point in our lives where life takes away more than it gives"

It feels like it's never been so true as it has been this year.  I know that every year we lose lots of celebrities, but.....*sighs*
