Passing of a friend
Just a few weeks ago my good friend passed away. He had been in a car accident several months ago, and gotten blood poisoning afterwards . He was never quite healthy again after that. He kept getting sick, and the doctors couldn't figure out why. He had so many tests and hospital visits, it was something to do with his blood? Then he passed away in the hospital about a month ago.
I remember how much he loved rpol. I'd call him while he was in the hospital and when we also talked outside of that and he'd often speak so fondly of this site. He'd tell me how the moderators were the kindest most helpful people (if we could get an applause here for them), how he was so excited about this game or that game he was running or playing in, how he met this wonderful co-GM or awesome player. Heck, I remember once he was reading posts to me from a player and saying how he wished he could write like that.
The two big games were a walking dead based one that apparently drifted pretty far from TWD, and a sci-fi game where he's designed a universe and lore based on it. He'd ask me all these questions about ideas and thoughts. Oh and he loved this pirate game he was in, used to tell me he would purposefully not post in It though until he made sure the game He was gming for the GM had an even post count to keep it fair. He really did like rpol.net. he would stress about not posting, and always feel guilty about being absent, especially if he didn't say he'd be absent.
This was all before I even joined. But after he died I got to thinking, and I decided to check out the site my friend loved. I'm not sure now if I enjoy being on here for memories of him, or just for the actual site. It's a blast. I think maybe it's both. Thanks guys for making two people's lives a little better, a little more fun, and generally happier :)
