Any recommendations for a decent map creator program or app?  Trying to find something on the cheap end but I suppose that's a relative term.

I have done a Free Tilling program small tiles big Tiles and hextiles all intermixed also has freehand,but I don't know if allowed to put a link on here? can a mod drop-in here and let me know if a link to a free program is allowed?, I can point you to a place someone has done a startrek Mod.

Yes, that absolutely would be allowed.

Most people get confused with the google download link, when you click it your taken to google files, there you will see a list of files in the zip, to download you will have to click the download icon at the top looks like a downwards arrow with a bar beneath it, most people try the wrong button.

I have a free mapping program, but you have only a few tiles with it, you need to get tiles online 20x20 and 40x40 , dungeon crafter tiles fit, but any of the correct size will work and there are trillions, you can resize any tile file to the correct size in MSpaint, also there are hex tiles, the Map created can be huge, and you can mix small tiles, big tiles and hextiles snap to grid or freehand.

the link to the app is above but you will probably have to signup to the grogheads forum to get the star-trek mod, but take 30 seconds to signup, there are some demo floorplans on grogheads but still you have to sign-in to see them. you can still read text on grogheads without signing in

The super-easy mapping answer is to grab Token Tool from http://www.rptools.net/toolbox/token-tool/ to make little "miniatures" and then get a drawing program like Visio or Draw ( https://www.openoffice.org/product/draw.html ).  Use draw to make the map, use token tool to make the tokens for players and monsters. Take screenshots each turn.

This is especially effective if you're running a module or the like with pre-drawn maps.  Just throw the pre-drawn map up as a background and put the tokens on it.  Easy to move them around from there.
