In that case either those guys were incredibly dull in the head, or were trying to get out of an arrest or hide the reason they were there.
No -- just people. People sneak into abandoned buildings all the time for all kinds of reasons; looking for shelter, getting cool pictures, on a dare, to make out... whatever. It's one of those things everyone knows is illegal but generally seems harmless. Now, falling off cliffs and walking across highways...

I don't think the abandoned house really rates. But in
all of the cases, I think it's ridiculous to blame the game. These are all people, with their own functioning brains, making the decisions to go wherever they go. It's like when "Killer" had its.. I think two year boom of popularity, and people would get in trouble for leaving post-it bombs in hotel elevators and other things that involved the general non-playing public. The game may well be an awesome game, but you still have to have some common sense.
...We're looking at paying to have one of our phones work as a mobile hotspot; then our son's tablet could run it. My plan is to say we'll only do it if he agrees to play only with his sister, taking turns, with one of them holding the tablet and hunting Pokemon, and the other one carrying the phone and watching the real world. If they don't both agree to that, I don't think we'll let them do it anyway.
Though I admit, I'm curious about that Ingress one myself! If it will work on our phones.. well, um, it's not as though I
couldn't use the exercise, and it looks... cool. Thanks, Agent 0013! Which is kind of fun to say all by itself.
grin I'm afraid a lot of the difference between the two, though, has to be popularity. I'd never heard of Ingress until now, and even that came... because of Pokemon. Just sheer numbers of people playing is going to make a big difference in getting the occasional, "And today one of them did something stupid" stat.
