There was a system... I can't remember it

So, I spotted a PDF ages (somewhere in 2007), I don't know if it was new or old even then, but I am trying to remember it.

Premise of the game:

1) Angels and other supernatural beings
2) Modern Day (though could likely be retailored toward any time period)
3) Featured constructs of various forms of modern and non-modern religious symbols and the like
4) Had heavy elements such as "maintaining one's humanity"

The book was (very rough estimates) about 70% fluff and 30% mechanics content.

The first two chapters I believe focused more on the "why are angels on earth right now" and "what would you, as a player - as an angel, be doing"

The PDF cover that *I* saw was an off white, and most of the inner of the book was black-n-white (no, it was not specifically black-n-white copy - it appeared that the majority of it was formatted/written that way).

I know - not much to go on, but, if anyone has any idea which RPG this might be, and could tell me; that would rock my world!  Thank you in advance!

I always liked In Nomine, but didn't have a group that wanted to play it.

Yep, same here.  Both with regards to IN, and to the majority of the games I own.  :p

It's a great game unfortunately every game that I have been in has been a mixed group and inevitably one Angel starts harassing the demons and things get stupid after that.

Hmm, I was thinking the WhiteWolf set where everyone plays as fallen angels, but ok.

Might read this article later.

That would be Demon: The Fallen.  There is also the game Kult but it is a bit hardcore for most people.

In Nomine is a system I've never played; though my partner owned a lot of the books. It has a really interesting concept; but I suspect it's one of those games that works a heck of a lot better if the players all know and like each other, to avoid the issues of playing angels and demons if you don't all trust each other OOC can create...

In Nomine has a lot of good background and fluff ideas, but (in English at least) there are mechanical flaws that can really screw things up from the dice curves and statistics.

Yeah, it was based on a French game, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...atanis/Magna_Veritas, I cannot believe someone got rich by poaching other peoples ideas...

They did a GURPS version that, on the one hand, smooths out those mechanical flaws... but, on the other hand, really shines light on the fact that some of those Angel/Archangel (or Demon/Prince) combinations are just way more powerful than others.  Which I think was sort of a shame; In Nomine wasn't about balance.  It's totally true that the math on the d666 system doesn't really work out, but it is fun.

I guess what I'm saying is, BBR, if you want to pull those books down and dust 'em off... I'm in. grin

Edit: I should probably clarify, I am, of course, not soliciting a game, here in Community Chat!  I am offering to help with dusting.  Possibly even a little light vacuuming.  If this should happen to inspire a game*, that would be purely a happy accident.

*-Allergens: The Sneezing, perhaps, which I've heard is better balanced, at least, than Middle-Aged Mutant Monk Mites.

At some point all French rule book for the 4th edition were available for free on the author personal web site. Since then, a new edition has been written. I don't know much about it as I found the pitch weak. Kind of a one shot/aperitif game from a glance.
