RIP Alan Rickman

So deeply saddened, he was my favorite actor and now I'll never see a new movie come out and show his brilliance. Too many greats are dying this year :''(

RIP Alan Rickman

Very sad.  There have been a lot of deaths recently, not just celebrities but in our lives.  Between my husband and myself, I think we have something like five funerals/visitations to go to in the next couple of days.  Mostly for people older than Alan was, but they will still be missed.

RIP Alan Rickman

He's one of those actors...I didn't love all of his movies (in fact, there a couple of them that I really have no interest in seeing again, and a couple more that I have no interest in seeing at all).  But no matter the movie, his part of it was always enjoyable for me to watch, and there are incredibly few actors I say that about.

And seeing some of the tributes people have written about him...stuff from Kevin Smith and Daniel Radcliffe, and even snippets of interviews with Rupert Grint.  I really don't impress easily when it comes to celebrities...most of them, I feel perfectly fine and content never having met.  But he's one of the few I really would have liked to meet.

Re: RIP Alan Rickman

David Bowie, Alan Rickman, and Lemmy Kilmister.

(Of course, we also lost Angus Scrimm 'The Tall Man' from the Phantasm movies and David Margulies, the Mayor of New York from Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II over the last two weeks, though neither of them to cancer, as far as I know.)

Re: RIP Alan Rickman

And we also lost the guy who did the voice for the Disney animated version of Robin Hood, the day before Bowie passed on.  So, it's been a tough week to be a celebrity with cancer, no matter whether you were in music or acting (or both, in Bowie's case.)

I hadn't heard that Brian Bedford had died until now. Sorrowful start to the year.

If we'd never had that movie, we would never have had Men In Tights, so it was worth it.

His deliver of lines on Dogma just KILLED it, just absolutely killed it. The complete dead pan of some of the most ridiculous lines...

That was one of my favorite movies by him. He could make you laugh so much but say it with a completely nonchalant face. "I'm the one that's soaked and she's the one that's surly, that's rich!" One of my favorite lines for sure!

Re: RIP Alan Rickman

I watched Doghma the weekend before his death, just by coincidence. I also fell in love with the Harry Potter movies because of him.

He was truly one of my unparalleled favorite actors. A Great man, truly a unique actor, and a great stage presence. I never knew him (obviously), but I feel like I wish I had. He was just that exceptional in every instance I saw him; interviews, behind the set screening, and the movies and plays themselves.

I enjoyed watching him on Startalk, and how candid he was on the greatness of art and applicability of that in comparison of science. That art was certainly not inconsequential, and some people were not as inclined toward maths and science to be great. He (Alan) inferred If he had been schooled in another country, we might never have seen such a grace to the stage.

I remember Daniel Radcliffe talking about Alan attending one of the young man's first adult stage shows, and how influential Alan was in showing support and giving truly invaluable advice.

If pressed for what I thought was my favorite movie of his, I don't think I could decide. I enjoy so many of them.

RIP Alan.

Re: RIP Alan Rickman

Die Hard and Galaxy Quest were my two favorite performances from him.  His was also the best performance in Robin Hood.
