Should the FFG Star Wars game systems be consolidated?

So similar to White Wolf, FFG's Star Wars games all use the same basic rules, just that the three 'base sets' (Edge of the Empire/Age of Rebellion/Force & Destiny) just focus on different aspects and time periods.

Should each edition be considered its own game in terms of RPoL game systems or should they be consolidated to something like FFG Star Wars?

Now I know White Wolf games differentiate as Vampire versus Werewolf versus Wold of Darkness but I would argue that the differences between the White Wolf games are far more severe. Yes they use the same system but they really inhabit different settings, themes, and there is not a lot of overlap in the character creation rules. Yeah basic skills are the same but each "base game" has very different game-specific powers/morality/backgrounds etc.

The FFG games feel more like a halfway point between a different game system like Werewolf vs. Vampire and an simple expansion book. The different base games do have different "morality" options but the different classes that come from each base set use pretty similar "powers", just mixed up a bit.

To put it another way, the different character options across base sets feel more like the differences between a fighter and a rogue rather then a Vampire versus a Werewolf.

I dunno, just thinking out loud at this point. Thoughts?

Well, they all use the same mechanics, characters are allowed to select options from other books, and even the different motivational mechanics (Obligation, Duty, Morality) work in similar ways. So, I'd say yes.

Agreed.  There's no reason for them to be separate.
