Rpol's policy on leaked game documents etc.

Without going into too much detail, I wanted to ask how kosher it might be to run/discuss a game on rpol which is only available to the community through a leaked gaming document (in this case, a print draft). I ask primarily with regards to the third edition of a highly anticipated game (by some active members of this community) which has been in development for the better part of three years.

Some forums (particularly the official forums for this game) have a "do not discuss" policy with regards to the leak, and I wanted to know if anyone could say whether or not rpol had such a policy.

In order to clear the air early, I'm an avid supporter of this game and its development. I funded it to a respectable degree, but after 3 years of waiting and little in the way of recent progress reports from the developers, it's difficult to sit on the leak without wanting to try things out (or at the very least discuss them). Before I broke down, however, I wanted to be polite (and safe) and ask first.

Obviously I don't plan to go around advertising links to the linked documents, but given that they're out there, I wanted to know if there was any official position on discussing/using such things.

Thanks,

-Norwood

Re: Rpol's policy on leaked game documents etc.

Given rpol's policy of pirated copy written material and the developers "do not discuss" policy, I would say that RPOL would honor the developers do not discuss policy.  RPOL probably isn't the place to discuss it

But I'm not a moderator

Re: Rpol's policy on leaked game documents etc.

And I am a moderator.  :)

RPoL's policy is that only officially available documents, and parts from them, can be posted in any part of the site.  So while you can discuss the leaked documents, and possibly even use them, you can not offer them (or links to them) to any other site user for purposes of discussion or use in a game.

This applies to game threads (private and public), private messages, and rMail.

Re: Rpol's policy on leaked game documents etc.

Thank you for the clarification, Bigbadron. I appreciate the prompt response, and will certainly honor the policy, regardless of whether or not I decide to pursue discussion or play. I had no intention of sharing the material around, but wanted to know if it was possible to either play or discuss the material with people who might already be in possession of it.

Thanks again,

Basically it boils down to this - if the publisher says "do not discuss" then you can not discuss the material on this site.  We will respect their wishes.
