Digital Character Sheets

I've been gaming with the same tabletop group for some time now. Until recently, having all my books and such with me hasn't been too much of a hassle. Our gaming location has changed, however, and lugging around a bunch of books is just a pain. I've managed to get pretty much all of them on my tablet and I figured that, while I'm doing that, I would see if there were any good apps to keep my character info on the tablet as well. It would just make things so much easier. So, does anyone recommend a useful resource for this? (if it matters, I have a Kindle Fire)

We primarily play DnD 3.5, but occasionally play other systems such as M&M 2e, various White Wolf games, and a few others.

Re: Digital Character Sheets

If you have Adobe Acrobat (the full version) you can scan the character sheets and make them editable.   Or you can turn Word files into PDFs the same way.  Then you can take them along on whatever you want to read PDFs on.

Re: Digital Character Sheets

You can download them already editable from a bunch of different sites. Just do a google search for 'editable d&d 3.5 sheets' and you'll get a WHOLE bunch of sites, most of them are in pdf though, and I don't know what format's kindle takes.

Re: Digital Character Sheets

My Kindle can handle PDF's. That's how I have my books on there.

Re: Digital Character Sheets

I didn't see the edit before I posted: Yeah, there are a lot of those PDF character sheets online.  Some are better formatted than others, which is why I usually make my own.

In reply to Evil Empryss (msg # 5):

I don't own a kindle but I'd think making your own would be easier on a regular computer. I don't know if he's using one or if he hooks it up to his tablet or what, plenty of people have a tablet and onlly a tablet these days. So if it's a tablet thing I'd suggest just downloading.

Re: Digital Character Sheets

Yeah, I assumed he had a regular computer, even a tablet computer. Who doesn't these days?  I mean, he's here on RPOL, right? :-p

Re: Digital Character Sheets

*shrugs* I went through a period where my computer died and all I had to post from was my regular tablet.

Re: Digital Character Sheets

I have a tablet and my phone for web browsing. While I technically have a computer I can access at work (during breaks and off-times), I don't use it to store any files.

Re: Digital Character Sheets

I went digital for my groups tabletop games years ago and have been pretty happy.  Primarily I use form fillable PDFs that someone or the actual game maker has released as it is the least amount of work, though I have made my own form fillable sheets from standard scans as well.

Not all PDF software can fill in and save PDF forms however, so you'll need to see what is available for your device.  You can always put stuff together in a word processing app as well.

Just make sure whatever you do, that you make backups.  Even better is if you use a cloud based system like google drive or drop box, then, even if something as simple as forgetting your device at home happens you're not stuck trying to remake a character so you can play.
