Re: Hollow Earth Expedition, Anyone ?
Hollow Earth Expedition is called a "pulp adventure" or something. It's like those old stories like King Kong of Journey to the Centre of the Earth - the Earth, as you may guess from the name, is hollow, and you can get to the inside by numerous means including but by no means limited to going down the inside of a volcano, flying along a tunnel at either of the poles, goinn down a whirlpool at the Bermuda Triangle, and so on. Inside are dinosaurs, giant versions of surface species, (insects, spiders, plants, apes, etc), the descendants of people form previous civilisations who got stuck in the Hollow Earth (time moves at variable rates there but generally slower, so some people might be only a couple of generations down from people who got stuck there hundreads of years ago), a bunch of Atlantean stuff, various species of beastmen (hawkmen, apemen, molemen, lizardmen, etc), and a bunch of other stuff as well, I'm sure :). The setting in terms of "real life" is erm, 1936 I think. So you might get...members of that well-known German political party from that time period as well ;).
As for the dice system, it's a binary system which means you can roll any type of dice you like, it doesn't matter, because it's done on the number of dice you roll and the number of odds and evens you get. I think evens are successes and odds are fails (though you can play it the other way round if you want). So if you're making a skill check you roll a number of dice equal to your skill (I think two or three is about the average, though you can add bonus dice and stuff as well) and will need to get a certain number of successes to beat the DC. If none of your dice are successes, though, that's a critical failure and bad things can happen depending on what you were trying to do...
