Anyone Here Still Play EverQuest?

I'm referring to the original version of the MMORPG.

I was wondering if someone would be able to take a few screenshots of something in the game for me. It's been a long time since I played, myself, and no longer have it around.

Re: Anyone Here Still Play EverQuest?

I used to play it, back in the day, before it changed beyond all recognition from the game I'd started playing in 2001 (I stopped in late 2005). Sadly I don't have any of my old screenshots as they were on an old computer we no longer have, so I'm not too sure if I can help you. But maybe you can use the magic of Google to find what you need. What is it you're after?

Re: Anyone Here Still Play EverQuest?

they went free to play last year - so you can play it again - the graphics are poor compared to the more modern games though.

Re: Anyone Here Still Play EverQuest?

I went to Eq2 when it released ... and after my divorce I stopped playing MMORPGs completely. Maybe this marriage will take  :)

I still play it nightly. Don't know how to do screenshots, though.

Re: Anyone Here Still Play EverQuest?

I think it used to be something like F1 to hide the HUD and F2 to take a screenshot or something. It was definitely F-keys. But as mentioned, I played quiiiiite a while back and it was a different game back then, so maybe even that kind of stuff has changed. If you hit the right button it used to come up with "Taking a screenshot..." in the chat box, though.

Re: Anyone Here Still Play EverQuest?

Yup, that would be correct. It puts them in a screen shot directory.

Yes, I play Project 1999 (P1999).  It's got all the classic servers.  They are private-run, so you have to have a disc or an ISO file to play.  (Yes, you can play the updated EQ1, but it's not the same.)

Re: Anyone Here Still Play EverQuest?

I've heard of P99 but as I understand it you need the Titanium version in order to run it, which therefore uses more recent versions of the files (so spell damage and costs and stuff like that use more recent calculations for their values, not the original ones) and isn't quite the same as playing it like it was "back in the day". Personally I continue to live in hope that EQC will one day finish development. If that happens, I'm there :D.

In reply to Ameena (msg # 9):

Actually - just because it's requires the titanium installer; not all servers use the more recent 'shtuffs'.  Some servers are indeed 'so old school' that they feel and play like the first game or just the kunark expansion.  Some allow various hybridizations (such as the newer UIs with the older game experience.)
