RIP Christopher Lee

Christopher Lee, most popularly known for playing Saruman and Count Dooku, has died this morning from respiratory failure.

This man was an absolute legend. Related to both General Lee and to Ian Flemming. Was a member of the SAS during WWII. Was actually Flemming's first choice to play Bond in Dr. No. Released several heavy metal albums. He actually MET Tolklien once in a pub.

My favourite story is the one where Peter Jackson was talking him through the scene where he gets stabbed in the back. And Lee is all "Do you know what it sounds like when a man gets stabbed int he back? Because I do."

And then he told Jackson how it had to be.

Legend.

The world is a lesser place without him.

Re: RIP Christopher Lee

I'll always remember Lee as Dracula in a whole series of Hammer horror movies.  *sigh*

Re: RIP Christopher Lee

Exactly.  It depends on your generation what he is most popularly known for, since he was in over 250 films.

He is, and always will be, the definitive Dracula.

Re: RIP Christopher Lee

Personally I'd say best known for Dracula. When he showed up in Star Wars and LotR's my reaction was "He's still alive?" RIP, you have earned it and thank yoou for many hours of movie pleasure.

Re: RIP Christopher Lee

I am glad to be old enough to not remember Lee mostly for his LoTR and Star Wars roles, but for his plethora of often campy horror movies from the fifties and sixties.

I always wondered why he didn't get more quality roles in really good movies, but I loved him in whatever he did.

He was of a generation for me, him, Peter Cushing, Vincent Price, Legosi... what a great group of talents they were.

RIP Christopher Lee, and thank you for all the times you entertained us all.

Re: RIP Christopher Lee

While he lived a very full life, the news is sad and a blow to the movie industry.
