Oh gods, is it that time of year already!?!

I shall avoid it by sticking skewers in my eyes and ears...

Re: Eurovision!

I like Austria, Australia and England the best.

Shocker to see the countries get nulls, and how did England's tune only get five votes?

Re: Eurovision!

We (England), never get any votes any more because nobody likes us. :D Everybody I know just finds it hilarious, so for the most part they will just root for a guy in a dress (staple of British comedy), or the catchy EDM track. Last year, the votes were overwhelmingly in favour of Poland, and if anybody remembers what those girls were doing on stage, they'll understand why, but they didn't even rank in our top ten because the critic guy who is half the vote (to weed out political voting), placed them last. Great sadness all round.

I love Eurovision. I make a point of watching it every year because it's a festival of goodwill wrapped in a music contest. It's cheesy and sometimes the music is terrible (although not usually and this year the bar was set especially high). It's just supposed to spread a feeling of unison amongst nations and healthy competition, even if the irony puppy does come back to bite them sometimes.

It was France I felt sorry for. No points for two years in a row! And their act was really good this year, but power ballads who don't try to bring anything else to the table just get lost amongst all the other power ballads whose act is that much more memorable.

Nice to see the Australians, the kings and queens of catchy pop. I hope they get to compete again.

Re: Eurovision!

Poland raps I guess. I agree with your critic, the song is horrible, but the girl washing the laundry was very, very attractive.

This year is the first time I've listened to Eurovison, and I even got to watch part of the finals live on YouTube, really good stuff for the most part.
