Make a Branchdancer for me?

So I'm in a predicament. I'm in a game as a player under my normal face to face GM. She often asks me to create NPCs for her, but this time she's asked for something I have no idea how to make. One, I've never heard of the class. Two, I don't even know if I have access to the source book. Third, and probably most importantly, even if I read some wiki on it, I have less than 8 hours to make it workable. Even my own characters take a couple hours to make and that's when the idea is pretty well formulated in my mind.

So would anyone mind making a sheet for me? We usually print out fully typed up character sheets anyway, so it has an added plus of my never needing to know what this NPC is capable of.

Important notes:
  1. It's for D&D 3.5. That's a pretty crucial piece of information.
  2. It's gestalt
  3. The character is male. If that matters. Some classes it does.
  4. Level is 3rd
  5. Concept is someone who climbs trees and uses a bow to shoot from the branches.

No big deal if no one wants to do it. It would be useful to have in the next eight hours though. After that point I can probably just have the GM give me more information and do it myself. She'd like the NPC today and gave me very little information on short notice. I figured I'd throw it out there.

Re: Make a Branchdancer for me?

After looking it up, it seems to be a Prestige Class featured in a Dragon magazine article. I am unsure if this will help your situation at all.

Re: Make a Branchdancer for me?

Thank you that does help.

What the fruit was she thinking? We're 3rd level, so I figured it was a base class in some obscure sourcebook. I guess all I need to do is make an archer that could feed into this class.

I'll look it over and see if I can make the character generic enough that she can do whatever she wants with it. Worst case scenario is the character has to be altered down the road. She's the GM so that's her choice.

Anyway, thank you. That saves me time, both waiting for reply here, and also making the character.

Edit: Ooooh kay, weeeeeirrrrd. It's a PrC you can take at 3rd level. And here I thought Church Inquisitor was a low entry job.

So any suggestions on how to make this then?

Re: Make a Branchdancer for me?

Probably an elf.  One side ranger 2/ branch dancer 1.  The other side rogue (for the sneak attack) or druid (forest variant, maybe).

Re: Make a Branchdancer for me?

Yeah, I'd go one side ranger 2, the other side all druid; unless you have a real yen for sneak attack. It's not really all that good compared to what a druid offers.

Oh wait; to qualify by third level you need a class with balance as a class skill. Rogue is probably the best of those, that seems to even remotely fit with the class anyway.

Re: Make a Branchdancer for me?

Awesome.

I still have about six hours to make the character, so I'll go with the Ranger/Branch Dancer//Rogue.

Thank you again! It's nice to have people to brainstorm when it's not a character I'm personally attached to.

Re: Make a Branchdancer for me?

Try Scout from the Complete Adventurer instead of rogue if you want the nature-ish skills and access to Balance.

Re: Make a Branchdancer for me?

Full casting is nice, but druids aren't the end-all-be-all.  Rogue for sneak attack would work, or do the martial rogue variant and get fighter feats in place of it to shore up your archery abilities with tons of combat feats.

You could also just do Rogue/Branchdancer on one side and put Druid (or whatever) on the other.  Either is pretty sound.

Re: Make a Branchdancer for me?

The GM did say one crucial piece of advice in her first (and only) e-mail, which was that she would like to use a class that wasn't already represented. We already have a rogue. My PC is a druid. So I'll build either scout or martial rogue (with fighter feats). Assuming those classes will work alongside a ranger.

Re: Make a Branchdancer for me?

Just an idea but something which may be fun to play/encounter... Monk/Sorcerer for the starting levels. Then move along with Monk with Branch Dancer. Maybe ask if instead of producing arrows, the instant fletching can't produce shuriken instead.
