new player

I'm not a new gamer, just new to this site. are theyre any good games I could watch and get a feel for how this works? I have played online games before but not in this format. Any advice would help a lot to get a feel for this.

Re: new player

A neat thing about the games here is that you can be admitted as a lurker, which basically means a spectator.

No one can mention specific games in this thread through. It is against the rules. So you have to look in the Wanted Players forum for game advertisements, or Game Proposals, Input, and Advice for interest checks for games.

Just ask to be a lurker when you apply to a game. Some games actually leave the game threads visible to the public, but I don't know of any quick way to find those, so I suggest looking at the Wanted Players thread for active games. Don't bother responding to those threads though, as only some GMs actually go check them for responses, instead follow the link to the game and click Request Access to send a PM to the gamemaster.

There is also a beginners forum on here for more info.

Re: new player

You can also 'Browse/Search the games' to look at games that may have been established for a while. Not all of them will be open to new players, but may permit lurkers.

Re: new player

Welcome!  I'd add to check out the Help section.  It is extensive and well-organized, tending to go to the part that applies to whatever you've just been looking at.

Re: new player

Some GMs--like me--have games that are just open to the public.  No lurking necessary!

Re: new player

I've 'watched' a few games that interested me.  Sometimes a player leaves and you might get asked if you would like to take over the character, before the 'opening' is advertised.  Other times the game has moved in directions that no longer interest me and I've let the GM know that I am no longer interested.
