Online Writing Communities?

I'm seeking recommendations for websites where you can share your creative writing.

I had a look around and there seem to be lots! Not sure where to begin.

Surely some are better than others?

Re: Online Writing Communities?

I use writing.com. It's been going for 13 years, has a lot of tools, a lot of members and activities. The free memberships limit the number of items you can have up at one time and the tools you can use, but there are a number of different membership levels so you can pick the level which suits you.

Re: Online Writing Communities?

It's been a while since I've visited, but I seem to remember scribophile being a decent community. Link: http://www.scribophile.com/

It has really tangible ways of encouraging you to give and receive critiques, and the community was always very good at engaging in legitimate evaluation and not just constant back-patting. Active, good functionality, good userbase, nice conversations, and fair critique... pretty cool all around.

Of course, the last time I was an active member there was circa... 2012, I think? Maybe it's changed, maybe it hasn't.

Re: Online Writing Communities?

http://www.critiquecircle.com is my one of choice. It's especially good for beginning/intermediate writers. They have a system setup so you earn points for critiquing other peoples' stories, which you can then spend to get yours critiqued. It means you're most likely going to get 2-3 solid critiques.
