Mountain Dew. I actually prefer it over booze even. I'm really very atypical of the gamer stereotype in that way.

Diet coke was always my favourite, that is until I realise I was basically addicted to the stuff! Had headaches for a few days when I stopped drinking it, now I'm a recovering soft drinker :D

Fever Tree's ginger ale & ginger beer are pretty nice, if a bit pricy.

Diet Pepsi, though there's also a diet tonic (potassium rather than sodium based) that I like too - not just for the taste, but because it means I don't have to take a quinine tablet.

Quinine tablets?  Do you have Malaria?  I didn't know that they even prescribed that anymore.

those tablets have more use then malaria, they used to treat muscle cramps and other things. So you can't base it just on Malaria.

Indeed, for muscle cramps.  I drink a large mug of it at bedtime, sometimes more if I'm having problems already that day.

Where was this when I was in college? I used to have such massive leg cramps in the middle of the night that I would clamp down on myself to stop from screaming.

Looked like a typical side effect list for drugs. I remember there was a med that they tried to put my youngest on that would have ate his bones and destroyed his nervous system... This was a COMMON side effect. Pity I do not have the name of the drug or I would do some research.

Dehydration is also a factor in muscle cramps, probably much that accounts for mine since I also take diuretics.  *sigh*  Take one thing, take another to deal with the side effects from the first, another for effects from the second, etc, etc.  And of course the more direct side effects, trying to hydrate at night means a lot more trips to the bathroom interrupting my sleep.

Considering it was only that summer I think it was more lack of nutrition. My fiance at the time was diabetic and we had little money. I would go for weeks on just rice so she could eat alright.

I also love Hawaiian punch, specially the orange flavors.

I used to like Hawaiian Punch, but they changed the recipe to include an ingredient that could send me to the ER. I'm unusually sensitive to halogenated organics, such as sucralose a.k.a. Splenda.

Stuff like splenda is bad for you anyway. So no loss there.

The loss of beverage choices. Rather than just avoiding diet drinks, I have to check the ingredients on the sugary ones too because they mix the stuff in.

Yep, the fake champagne stuff is the one I know. I don't remember cider in apple-shaped bottles, but it sounds great.

The stuff in the apple-shaped bottles was regular cider, as opposed to the sparkling cider in the faux-wine bottles.  Every bit as tasty, without the bitterness introduced by carbonating it.  At least, that's the way I remember it.  It's been...well...we'll call it a few years, since I can't recall for sure how many and prefer not to think too carefully about how many years...

Usually I only drink water, English tea, and alcoholic cider, but when I want something sugary: Cream soda.
