A storm rolled though my area today.  My son asked where thunder came from.  I told him that Gary Gygax was DMing a game for God and he just rolled a crit.

My wife was not amused.

Thunder in Los Angeles? That's where I heard it yesterday. I thought it was artillery.

I was too busy to game yesterday, but I was well-aware of the day and will celebrate by gaming asap.

No offense, but your wife has no sense of humor... that was hilarious.

I live in Florida, so I hear storms all the time. Guess the Big Man and the Big Nerd RP right above us on the east coast :D

Re: Happy Gygax Day

But why was Shiv's wife not amused?  She didn't get the joke?  she thought it wasn't showing proper respect to God or to Gary?  or what?

A coworker of mine was telling about a saying someone told her, about how when it rained on a sunny day, a "sun shower", it's because "the devil is beating his wife".  She thought it was funny and told a very religious coworker, who was deeply offended.
Perhaps Shiv's wife felt the same way.

Re: Happy Gygax Day

Actually my wife has a great sense of humor.

I added that last bit to insert a bit of contrast to the anecdote.
