RIP James Garner

Highly regarded professional and quick on the pistol-plugging finger. Good family man. Lasting legacy in his art forms.

Oh no!!!  I'm sorry to see him go.  He was one of the greats, and always fun to watch in literally everything he did.

Re: RIP James Garner

If you get a chance to watch some of the old Maverick series, some of those episodes are the absolute best shows in the history of TV.

Re: RIP James Garner

A true legend. Wheter it was as Jim Rockford on the Rockford Files. To Woodrow Call in Streets of Laredo. The man was a great actor. I recall when he came into 8 Simple Rules when John Ritter passed and brought a new spark to the show. Him and David Spade had a good chemistry.

I also recall Maverick and enjoyed it and a lot of his westerns. Jim, you are an icon of Hollywood and will surely be missed.

It was great to see him take a role in the Maverick movie with Mel Gibson too.

Re: RIP James Garner

My recommendation is Sunset, James Garner as Wyatt Earp, Willis as Tom Mix

Re: RIP James Garner

I loved My Fellow Americans, but one of my favorite movies with him was in "Tank" where he was an Army sergeant who owned his own WWII tank, and had to use it to rescue his son from a corrupt sherriff.
In retrospect, it had the feel of a movie he did "to pay the bills, between the big movies that get awards", but I really enjoyed it.

Re: RIP James Garner

One of my favorite movies of all time is The Great Escape, where his role inspired two of my favorite rp characters.  One was in Twilight:  2000, where my character named Tom Handley (I was going by memory when I named him) was the grandson of Garner's character Hendley.  The other was in a Star Wars D6 game where his template was an Ordnance Procurer whom I named Mav Bretrick.
