Is DDI converting to Next?

Does anyone know if D&D Insider will continue to support 4th edition after Next comes out?

I've been debating whether I should re-up my subscription.

Re: Is DDI converting to Next?

They are no doubt weighing their revenue options.

By leaving the 4th edition DDI, they continue for some amount of time to gain from players of 4e, which may be a substantial amount of time.

Seems most logical to take the underlying framework of DDI and make a second version for the Next game -- especially considering that early on in any game's life there's not a huge clamor for such accumulation of information ... when there's only a couple of books total that have been published.

EDIT: If they're actually *smart* (thus, not likely) they will combine it into a single service pay model. So people who like the 4e version will continue to get 4e -- they will also get Next material, thus incentivising them to try it.
