RIP John Pinette

Saturday, we lost comedian John Pinnette.

Other than his stand-up comedy, I remember he was the referee for G.L.O.W. (Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling).

Buffets are safer now, but the world is much sadder.

Re: RIP John Pinette

I've heard much of his standup, and always mourn when a funny person passes.   The world has less laughter now.

Re: RIP John Pinette

I remember him for his character in the (good) Punisher film (as opposed to the 80's Dolph Lundgren one--which was tolerable, but not that good--or Punisher: War Zone, which I never saw and which failed to incite any enthusiasm on my part to see it...)

I really enjoyed his role in that...he managed to be comic relief without being a clown about it (well, any more of a clown than the character was written to be, anyway).  Another example of comics adapting to 'dramatic' roles more successfully than dramatic actors adapting to comic roles...

Read a little bit about who he was, as a person, as well, from some of the other comics he'd worked with.  The guy was, truly, a class act.

Re: RIP John Pinette

Ah a time when ladies wrestling was popular. And I loved that Punisher role. A bell rings ten times to honor your memory John.

Re: RIP John Pinette

His standup acts were so funny, especially his fat jokes and Japanese jokes about "Free Willy."  Sad loss.
