So, I'm building a Samsaran Oracle, 8th level, for a recently-started PF game. I learned quickly that I'm never going to be happy with the damage or healer roles, and our tank is touchy about people taking her place, so I've decided to try some CC. Unfortunately, I'm lame when it comes to spell and feat selection. I'm grabbing Mystic Past Life, which opens up more options... But also makes it so there's more I'm unsure about choosing.

Anyone able to advise me on how to steer this build for good CC?

Upon edit: I'm thinking of going Reincarnated Oracle for flavor reasons.

The first thing you can do is explain what you mean by CC.

Crowd Control perhaps?

Might be, but when it's unclear it's hard to give any advice. Damage, healer and  tank was spelled out. Why not CC?

There is one thing I can suggest with what was said. With Mystic Past Life, don't forget to look at the adept spell chart. It's got some spells on it that aren't typically divine on it.

Im going to focus more  battlefield control and crowd control  as I think its just better overall

anyways here are some good control spells off the top of my head.
1st- Cause Fear, command, forbid action, murderous command, obscurring mist
2nd- Darkness, Enthrall, hold person, snow shape
3rd- deeper darkness, stoneshape.



That being said, Support would be a great ( better) 'role' i guess to look at, it what I am doing with a current cleric.

SO youd have things liek bless, prayer, aid, freedom of movementprotection from evil, magic weapon, grace, bull's strength, and shiled of faith are all wonderful support spells.

So - there are a few schools of thought to the "Crowd Control" (CC) methods.

1) Provide your allies a tactical advantage first, then let them handle the field.
2) Divide your enemies with obstacles in the most literal sense, and then conquer these groups individually.
3) Weaken groups of enemies so that your allies can mop-up.

1 and 3 likely sound the same, but they are done differently.

If you are interested in option 1)

Samsaran Oracle (Time-Mystery) - Choose two knowledge skills for this character ( as a result of race ), and focus a LOT on knowledge.  This theory works well if your DM ever lets knowledge skills do anything useful (such as provide insight as to the weakness of a given monster).

Best Revelations? -- Momentary Glimpse, Knowledge of the Ages, and Erase from Time.

If you are interested in option 2)

Samsaran Oracle (Flame Mystery) - Choose Acrobatics and Spellcraft as your bonus skills.
Immediately pick up Firestorm and Form of Flame the moment you can (firestorm is level 11).

With your bonus spells from your second life - take any spells that allow you to create barriers (wall of flame/ice, etc work well, as does any variant on hallucinatory terrain)

Samsaran Oracle (Winter Mystery) - no special notes on skills, maybe perception and spellcraft.

Revelations -> Ice Shape, Freezing Spells, Cold Aura, Child of Winter, and Wintry Touch.

Focus on spells such as Curse/Quest
