Re: Trading with Trolls

Virgilio gives the (seemingly) undead siege beasts as wide a berth as possible while approaching the fouled windmill installation.

"Tommy, can you see if this is just hung or if the drive has gotten disconnected?  And if not, we should try to disconnect it, it'll take the tension off the rope.  For that matter..." He turns back toward the group.

"Is anyone here an artificer?  This would be much more in your field than mine, I know only the most basic facts about levers and pulleys."

Dne stays up in the air where he is for now, but if the beasts become threatening, he'll boogey back fast as Anna's Hummingbird.

Re: Trading with Trolls

"Well, let's start with getting this rope out of the spinning part, then worry about the drive belts.  I think that belt will go back on that wheel, and the other one on that other wheel over there.  Might be a little tricky getting the belt in place while they're plodding along, but they do it every day in water mill powered shops."

He gets close enough to touch the rope with his staff, casts with his usual rehearsal, and begins trying to manipulate the rope around the arms and sails to free the fan.

Tommy will also approach to see if he can untangle some rope...being careful not to get caught in it as it is moved by the treadmills.

Re: Trading with Trolls

Virgilio gets the rope disengaged partway, this may take a couple of applications, (as in 2 more) as "Undo" might be a better spell that apportation.  A knot tying roll would give +1 on the rolls.

While this is going on, Dne keeps a very close eye on the beasts.  He’ll call out a warning if they make any move he perceives as threatening.

In reply to Virgilio Hohlfeld (msg # 887):

"Perhaps. Or place them at regular intervals...maybe in hard to reach places. Can we fire an arrow into the ceiling with a bright continual light attached, to mark where we need to walk to? Or perhaps our floating mage can cast continual light on stones in the ceiling at various intervals. Bright enough, they should light the way for us nicely."

Re: Trading with Trolls

"I wouldn't worry about someone stealing these lights -- they cost a farthing for the coin, and a small risk to me for each one I make, a risk I'm used to.  I don't know if an arrow would stick in the ceiling here, or just shatter or fall, but we could try that.  I can light the arrow itself, so no need to attach something.

"D'ne casting this spell -- well, I don't know that he knows this one, he seems pretty concentrated in Air and Movement, but also a light this bright is fairly tiring for most mages.  I'm different that way."
