Re: Savage

I need to bring up your character sheets and keeping track of your XP.

When ever your DM awards you XP list; when, why, and how much.  It really helps when you are doing a region transfer.  Here is an example of what I do with my characters, as do the other DM's here.

Please put this at the top just under the SHEET UPDATED: area.

814 XP Added 24NOV09 Fighting Kobolds
200 XP Added 07JAN09 New Years
431 XP Added 16FEB10 Birthday in December and posted in thread, never applied points.
150 XP Added 03MAR10 General Activity
200 XP Added 28APR10 Good in Town RP

If you do not have this information on your character sheet, have your DM add the following.

XXXX XP Confirmed Date confirmed DM's Signature.
10,114 XP Confirmed 11MAY10 DM Puma

Re: Savage

I have a question that someone here may be able to answer.
A long time ago, when I was running games on RPOL, there was a way to post pictures and maps into a thread. Does anyone remember how to do it? Because I am running a FR game on RPOL (Besides here in ROA) and would like to just add the maps to the thread. Can someone help me out?

Re: Savage

A third character can be attained, with some limitations.

You need to ask the DM of the region you are applying for if they will accept a 3rd character from you.  A response might take a while as the DM has to get in contact with your other regions DM's and see if you can manage a 3rd character.

Your third character has the lowest priority to be accepted into a game. We want other players whom only have one or two characters a chance at joining the region.

If you have a second character who isn't doing any thing but you don't want to play them any more, why not just rebuild the character?

Re: Savage

So I am thinking of taking over one of the regions and being a DM.  I would prefer Sembia or the Moonsea.  I'm leaning towards Sembia.

Okay, PM us head DMs (me, Annihilator and Windwalker) and tell us about yourself.

Everyone else: I got a bit overwhelmed with some chores and a sick dog and such, and I've become a bit of a slowpoke and fallen behind. I'll be trying to catch up, but if you're missing me, that's why.

It seems our dog is indestructible. Fourteen years old and still as active as a puppy, bar a few rare times.

Okay, I think I've caught up. If anyone still needs me for something just poke me and remind me regularly. My activity is strongly dependent on everyone else's here.

Re: Savage

Here is an odd question.  What would the price be to purchase a trained animal, say... a mountain lion, or wyvern?

Re: Savage

Sorry. Maybe no-one knew the answer. Or forgot to get back to you on it. :|

But it really depends on the animal. Dogs and horses are given in the PHB, and some animals and monsters get such things in their entries in the various monster manuals and accessory books. It's pretty spread out.

Do you have a specific creature in mind?

Re: Savage

The Arms & Equipment guide has a section on animal mounts of unusual type - including owlbears and wyverns and the like. It breaks them down by the price to get them young, the price to train them and the feat you need to train a critter.

Re: Savage

Wyvern
Despite its claws and wicked sting, a wyvern is a far safer mount than one of its more intelligent cousins. Once caught and tamed, a wyvern behaves predictably and follows relatively standard training procedures.
Though reputedly stupid, wyverns are better described as "tactically challenged." When properly disciplined and cared for, a wyvern can learn many different commands and follow complex orders, even away from its master. However, if it is confused or hurt without a master to issue orders, it reverts to instinct and attacks the source of its discomfort. A wyvern can never be domesticated.
Carrying Capacity: Light 696 lb., medium 1,398 lb., heavy 2,100 lb.; DC Young/Adult: 25/32; Young Price: 3,000gp; Training Cost: 3,000gp.

Note that there's a specific feat required for doing the training yourself, because Handle Animal doesn't apply to things that aren't animals and it's not what you'd call a profession without risks.

No-one seems to have considered that anyone would ever be daft enough to ride a lion, but there are rules for being carried around inside a remote-controlled ooze if you like? ^_^

Re: Savage

It wasn't to ride the lion, but to train it for fighting and defending and the like.
